4 out of 5 stars Compensating for Other Reviewers   December 19, 2008
Matthew Richardson (Canada)
I really don't care who may or may not be getting ripped off here in terms of royalties; all I know is that this is a great live album, and well worth the price.

3 out of 5 stars Finally, a "real" release but why no information?   December 6, 2008
GtheK (Ontario,Canada)
It is great to have this released by the Doors, even at such a late date. The sound is better than the bootlegs (which always had a thin, hissy sound due to the recording location and equipment used). But the show was recorded over two performances and there is no information as to which songs came from which shows. I have a sneaking suspicion that the performances are jumbled to provide a new show rather rhan reflecting the original events.

God I love the Doors, but this live cd is
very thin in sound quality due to the era
and technological recording of the time
(hardware and software analogue tape).
none of the less, i will buy it again as
a fan, for the others stick with the original
elektra records album's of the Doors.
Marc, Montreal.

1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY   November 22, 2008

This CD is such a mess one hardly knows where to start!

The reason why I am giving this product a bad review is simply because it is NOT what it says it is. This CD is NOT first generation tapes acquired by The Doors.

This CD is just a cleaned-up-in-the-studio copy of the tape from which all the Matrix bootlegs come from, plus some tracks lifted straight off the actual bootlegs. The hiss levels vary dramatically from one track to the next, exposing the fact that this is just a collection of different sub-par sources.

The fact that The Doors and their management lie to their fans like this is a real disgrace, and shame on them for advertising this CD as quality "first generation" product when IT IS NOT. It is just a rip-off, plain and simple.

This material has been out there for years. Don't waste your money on an incomplete, out-of-sequence copy of a bootleg.
