4 out of 5 stars The Killers Are The Killers No Matter What They Do   December 27, 2008
Trevor Gendre (Wpg, MB)
I think that "The Killers" will always be recognizable because the lead singer has a unique voice. I realize that "The Killers" like any other band try to start experimenting with things after a few albums have been put out. I rank this album above "Sam's Town" which was just brutal, and below "Hot Fuss" because I think "Hot Fuss" was and still is their top album. Like the song "Somebody Told Me" sold the "Hot Fuss" album the song "Human" is going to sell the "Day & Age" album. A lot of the songs on this particular Killers album I found to be the band trying to come out with a charismatic & heartfelt album of songs. But I think a : album, but then again, it might take a few more albums before that happens. All in all its not bad, but not their best, so I give it 4/5 stars.

3 out of 5 stars American version of Coldplay   December 7, 2008

The Killers started out as an exceptional glam-rock band with their debut Hot Fuss, took a detour into rediscovering their American roots with Sam's Town (after the lead singer bought a Bruce Springsteen record and decided to emulate it), and now on Day and Age we get them emulating Coldplay. Seriously. It's all minor chord changes here, the same production --sounding like a lone voice plaintatively crying in the wilderness-- nothing really to ruffle anyone's feathers, nothing requiring any actual technical skills on the instruments. It's all production gloss and atmosphere, stadium anthems. Yep, it's Coldplay. I'm going to give it 3 stars because it's better than the godawful Sam's Town, and a half decent listen --The songs are nice driving music or whatever-- but there's nothing new here.

I was a sceptic once but now I am SO glad I gave it a chance. CNN approved this system a while back.
