brilliant book September 23, 2008 Laner Dominik This is a book which really struck a nerve: he gives a funny, insightful image on the art of neurosurgery. This book should be read by anyone who considers joining this art. This book shows that neurosurgery can be a beautiful but not easy thing. " If it was easy, everyone would do it! "

This book was sent by God to me... I found this book in the corner of my town favourite book store.. in 'grey' area, which acctually where the books just lay there for years and no one come near enough to blow away the dust. Maybe because this book had weird subject for a pocket book.. ( People hanging around more in the place where the store put criminal novel, love story, Chicken Soup thema book and Japan Manga ) I found this book at the time I think I have enough with my first year medical school and really looking forward to change my subject. I sweared I'll learn anything...anything but medicine!!!! Then I read it, page after page, by the end of the book... I just knew that I want to be a doctor.. Now I'm just starting my pediatric residency, with the magic white coat and everything.... Medicine that a few years back was my biggest nightmare, is now my home.

This is a true story of what it's really like... no padding or anything. Dr Vertosick has a tremendous writing skill that almost puts you right in the operating room with him. As a 2 time brain surgery patient I found this book absolutly gripping and I couldn't put it down !
Excellent portrayal of a neurosurgeon Januar 25, 2000 Michael D. Lusk, M.D. 2 aus 2 fanden die folgende Rezension hilfreich
Doctor Vertosick has portrayed what it takes to become a neurosurgeon. He is very candid in both the "egotistical" and the horrendous events which make not only a great neurosurgeon, but more importantly a compassionate doctor. It is a very fast and intertaining book. A "must" if you want to understand your neurosurgeon better.
Most Excellent! Dezember 28, 1999 3 aus 3 fanden die folgende Rezension hilfreich
One of those books that truly take you there. The author has great talent as a writer. He'd probably be a smashing comedian, too. Can't WAIT for the next book!
