mostly right... September 10, 2007 Barbara Brenner 34 aus 34 fanden die folgende Rezension hilfreich
as a regular Lonley planet user, I can say that the Thailand edition is very informative and gives some good advice for 'individual' travellers. Thailand is an easy choice and travelling off season is certainly a plus in terms of low prices and no crowds. We found some of the recommended accomodations terrific and good. Another definite plus - which we had to learn from pains - is that the little maps of the Northern area in the lp are way more precise than any Thai maps we could find. Be aware that Thai street and area maps show streets which do not exist in reality! You might find yourself driving up 2,000 meters in altitude just to find out that the road suddenly stops and you'll have no alternative but to turn around. Annoying! With the planet as a guide book you can easily venture out yourself with your own rented vehicle. The only trouble is that it might be a little strange visiting hilltribe people on your own, since every little village has dogs in abundance which will not only greet you but also sometimes bite you. Hence, you might be well advised to take some locals with you. Also the information on Bangkok, Kosa mui and surroundings is very correct and helpful. As with any guide containing an abundance of information on "hot spots" (in terms of accomodation, food, shopping, going out) etc. which are subject to change, it's impossible to be precise and on top of the game always. However, we found the planet to be precise and up-to-date almost all the time. Ergo: A good choice!
