Great- if you've got an epoch to spare... July 31, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Empire Earth is a good attempt to recreate the military advancement of History's civilisations. It takes us from the stone ages through the Bronze, Iron, Renaissance, 19th Century, both World Wars, and then on to Modern and even into the future all in 'Age of Empires' type play. At first sight the game is eye boggoling- so much to do so little time. Unfortunately this effect does rather wear off...after four or five hours, by which time you will only have reached the Renaissance Period, and while each Era does bring with it many interesting units- Roman Legionaries, Elephants, Marines, Stealth Bombers and the like- there is a lack of diversity in the units you can create, as for the main you get two or three infantry units per age- with the same amount of Cavalry. The later ages (from about WW1 onwards) do branch out more, and the arrival of Tanks, Aircraft, Submarines, and Machine guns is much welcomed- but the underlying flaw in the game is simply that if you were to play a standard battle with one opponent on 'Normal' to actually reach the Nano Age (the last of the Game's Periods) it would take between 6-8 hours. Don't get me wrong, it's great the first time you play, but soon you relise that there are better games that don't take so long to finish. That said the Scenarios, or Campaigns are quite good, and of reasonable length- if you only get the game to play the Scenarios it'd be worth it.
Empire Earth 1, The Best Game I Ever Played February 21, 2005 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Empire Earth 1 has to be one of the worlds best Strategy games released and i Would recommend it to any Strategy Game fan. It is extremely accurate to Historic Dates, the Research for the different Epochs is Spot on and the graphics make you feel as if you are one of the citizens. Overall this is a Great game and even better when it is played online I cant wait for Empire Earth 2!!

This is a very good game and i have spent many hours playing this online, but it is a bit dated and might be worth waiting for empire earth 2 to come out sometime in feb 2005.
